Stereotypes of African American women have been perpetuated for years and years. We are perceived as loud, masculine, mean, and angry.
The one stereotype that baffles me is the idea that black women are promiscuous and overly sexual beings. I had never recognized that black women were seen in this way because many times I hear about how sexually repressed we are. It was a literal shock to me to learn that other races think of us that way because just based on my own observation the black woman is usually not the one so free with her body.
